ah, i see now, this is predicated on the OP snagging one from his friend. we shall see. anyway, knowing the apparent scarcity of these, ill def forward all 5 to members here should i get one. i dont have any tech geek friends who would really get a kick out of this like ppl here would.

All we know "for sure" is that Google is sending out 100,000 invites. And according to a few sources such as Gizmodo, each invite is coming with 5 more invites.

If you do the math you will realize that all it will take is for 1 of us to get our hands on an invite:

5 invites -> 25 invites -> 125 invites -> 625 invites.....

As you can see it, will be a snowball effect if we can get just 1 single invite.

is google sending out 100K, or are the total invites capped at 100K? i thought it was the former but i read something this morning leading me to believe it was the latter.

That's not what I heard. What I heard was the first wave will get 5 invites but the second wave that was invited into, will not get any invite. Google is not ready to scale this to the massive numbers like Gmail. they are still early in the game. That's why the second wave is restricted. I could be totally wrong.

If that is true, then oh dear...

May as well throw my hat in the ring even though it's probably pointless haha.

I'd love an invite if anyone has one to spare. I'll actually report bugs and stuff. You know, what beta testers are supposed to do.

You could also be entirely correct. The truth of the matter is nobody really knows for sure.

So yes, it is possible that the second wave of invites don't have any of their own. But there is only one way to find out for sure, and I think this method is the best way of knowing.

The whole point behind this thread is that if anyone in here gets an invite and shares their invites with some of us, then it's just a matter of time before we all receive one ourselves. And the only thing I know for ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY is that if I get an invite that comes with 5 secondary invites, the 5 users I mentioned in the original post will get those invites.

None of us TRULY know what Google Wave is all about. But if it's anything as big as GMail then it will be an excellent innovation. And that is something I'd like to be apart of from the ground up.

need one!

I'm not sure, but I think that if a person receives an invite from someone else (not the original from google), that person would not be able to invite others himself....I'm not sure though.

How do you PM someone here?

Over on Gizmodo and Lifehacker people are receiving invites and giving them out to other members. So I think that the secondary invites do exist. Only way to know for sure is if one of us can get one. I'm doing my best to get one before this day ends.

< username with gmail address. Thanks in advance. I will try to share invites with other users here.

If anybody who does not have the ability to use the PM system send them to (my username)@gmail.com

Invites are on eBay for pretty cheap. Most of the bids are around $10.

If anyone has a spare invite, feel free to PM me.

If there's anyone who hasn't gotten on someone else's list, send me a PM, and if I get an invite, I'll send one to five people.
