Google's New 'Motion Stills' App Makes Live Photos a Whole Lot Better

Are you serious? Not installing this app because of Google tracking everything but just tried Cinemagraphs and is utter buggy and slow junk (on an iPhone 6s)

Cinemagraphs may be the name of the app but it's also the name of a style of picture similar to Live Photos but with far far greater detail and control. Using Photoshop, After Effects, FCX, and other programs they're far and away better than anything this Google app can touch. Cinemagraph Pro for Mac is also a good choice to make them with ease.

My comment was that cinemagraphs as a media type are years away better than these simple GIFs that the Google app is producing.

Yeah, but just cuz the dude screwed up doesn't mean we need to live with bad english. There is a reason why JIF peanut butter was spelled with a J. So I refuse to take his version of it and continue to pronounce it correctly. =]

Hey, I for some reason read chipotle as chipolte for years. Lol, I did NOT expect everyone else to bow to me (though it's apparently commonly mispronounced as well).
I put my big boy pants on & started saying it right! =0)

Briefly though- the sound of the word replaced has NO bearing on the pronunciation of the acronym. Let's take SCUBA (pronounced "scooba") for example, the U stands for Underwater, so if you were correct in thinking acronyms sounds match the replaced words; it would need to be pronounced "sc-uh-ba". There are NOT steadfast rules established with acronyms and pronunciation; the creator really does decide.

Fair point with the scuba thing. So I guess you're saying that we've all been saying scuba wrong too!! (jkjk)

I mean I guess it's partly vanity but I've heard the news about how the creator came out to explain it was pronounced "JIF" a while ago still refuse to use it.

If the JPEG creator came out tomorrow and said it's not 'jaypeg', it's 'peg' with a silent 'j', I'd say he can f himself too.

Not according to the dictionary. There are two ways to pronounce GIF. They are called phonemes.
