Nice! I'm happily using an early 2015 with 8 GB of ram too.

Yeah repairing my MacBook pro previous model was gonna cost me 700$, whereas I can get an air with student discount with no problems lying ahead lol. Are you using an air too? what do you do on your air? What apps is good for writing?

I'm using an early 2015 MBA. The only apps I use with any regularity is Office 2016, iTunes, and Safar.

I take it with me when I travel because of its low weight and long-lasting battery.

I almost wavered to get the base model MacBook pro non touch bar but battery life for it is only 9 hours..whereas air is 12 hours, so I'm like stuck a bit. Should I do that one or stay with air? yes, i love the portability for the air lol. i bought a clear case for it yesterday, its from amazon. on its way to me today :D

I also have a late 2013 13" MBP. I love the screen but it feels a bit too heavy to carry around all day. I prefer the retina over the MBA screen but I quickly adjust to using the Air.

Yea, Its better than my falling apart MacBook pro 2008 thats for sure. I'm just thankful I can get this MacBook air, in comparison of what was happening to it. i would've costed me nearly more than 700$ for repair..cos if u don't keep it plugged in, it shuts off, cd drive was bad..hd wasn't spinning half the time and keyboard keys weren't working...when you try to type some words..

thank you for that information lol :) something to think about in the future for me. for now I'm just watching youtube, netflix, paper work for school. nothing big that need that big of storage.

Nine hours? My wife's 2016 nTB Macbook Pro gets, on average, 12-15 hours on the battery. That's internet and Office use primarily. I've never heard of her getting anything less than 10 hours. Now I'm guessing if you're watching videos all day, then yeah, you'll get way less battery run-time.

I got 2017 MBA 13 inch from Apple refub. I had 2014 MBA and it served me well. It survived two spills (broke on 3rd one), and had no issues with keyboard. Was going to get MBP 2017 but it had way too many issues, hopefully these will get resolved by 2018.

Too many issues on MBP 2017, unless you get 2015 model IMO.

okay I actually went and exchanged to the 2017 MacBook Pro 13" 256 non touch bar silver model :) I'm happier with the screen, doesn't hurt my eyes lol.

I've used both the retina 13" MBP and 13" MBA with no eyestrain from using either model.

Either machine is a good choice IMHO.

That is probably because your eyes cannot detect screen flickering aka
Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)
Some people are more sensitive to it than others.

Keep in mind that the MBP can be charged from a portable battery pack whereas the MBA cannot. If that matters to you
