Got a new 3G because of cracked case!

I bought my iPhone almost a year ago. I've taken very good care of it. Never dropped it, never laid it on it's back so it would scratch and the Apple logo was still mar-free after all this time!

But several months ago I noticed a crack on that little piece of plastic between the metal frame and the sync-cord. No biggie. Then, a few months ago I got two or three hairline fractures on the corner. That was worse. But then, about a month ago I got a crack on the corner of the sync-cord area. It kept growing and growing until it was about 3/4" long.

I took it to the store and the guy looked at it and, snap, just like that he said I can authorize a replacement for this and then brought me a new phone!

YES! :)

Meanwhile, while waiting at the Genius bar, a guy with his girl brought in an old iBook. It was old. Wasn't even running X (I heard them saying something about still running 9 point something). Anyway, the disk was dead. The Genius said, technically this is out of warrantee but I think you deserve a new drive. This one has a 60GB. I'll put in a 120.

Then he went into the back and came out. He said, normally it takes 3-5 days for a swap but I can have it to you in 30 minutes. You can look around the store until it's ready.

AWESOME! :apple:

thats awesome service (if its true...maybe the thing with the girl was all planned to impress the customers in the store:cool::D )
which apple store did you go to?

congratulations on your new iphone;)

I had my 6 month old iPhone replaced two weeks back due to case cracking, no quibble, no problems at all getting it changed, such a great service.

Replacing the i for a cracked case is old news.... it is a known issue and cracked cases get a replacement phone.

would it be better to buy the iphone from an apple store instead of AT&T for return services if needed?
