Got a new mac, apps don't work!

I just got a new MBP 13" and I transferred stuff from my whitebook 2006 to it via ethernet cable.

It broke most of the apps! What to do? I even downloaded 10.6.1 for it and it said it could not be installed! ERROR!!!!!

HELP!

...and how exactly did you transfer this stuff, and from where/what were your transferring?

Did you use Migration Assistant, or did you use file sharing to manually drag files over from the MacBook? If you went with option 2 you could have overwrote something you needed for the application to work correctly or you may have replaced a newer version with an older version which is bad juju.
