Hello, again. I've recently purchased a MacBook Pro (specs in signature):apple:.

I used the Migration Assistant after installing and fully updating a fresh copy of Snow Leopard.

After having to create a new user name to replace my formerly-existing user name with my backup, Time Machine does not want to continue with my previous backups on this Mac. It continues to give me a message informing me about the lack of space to backup my current state.

Then, I looked into the Backup folder, and it had both my old MacBook's name, and my new MBP's name. Is it possible to continue from my old backups on my MBP rather than create a whole new line of backups? If so, how can I do so?

My first approach would be to rename the new MBP to be exactly the same as the old one? You could try that and see what happens?

Given that the old sparse bundle will contain all the system settings from your old machine isn't it best just to take the time and back up afresh?
