I think you guys missed the point of me starting this thread, (re-read the part about my theory).

Basically I am saying almost all new MBPs are plagued with the leaks just on different levels. And the people who say their display is 'perfect' are not noticing the leaks. And thus the reason for this thread, to be proved wrong.

But from the posts and pics I think it's reasonable to say that it seems I was right.

"My theory is a good amount of new MBP's have backlight leaks just not everyone notices it. So it would be fruitless to exchange a MBP for another one, since they all have backlight issues."

From my first post.

Well, the title says post a picture of your display... so i did, and i think it looks good, however i did have to get it exchanged for another reason :D so i will set it up and post another picture of the Display for you to see if this one suffers the light leeks as well.

I had horrible backlight bleed on the left side of my screen. My MBP is the earlier MBP. I got the screen replaced (3 times to be exact) and it's perfect (at least to me).

Finally set up my replacement MacBook Pro. here's the display... looks perfect :D

Are you kidding? Even I can see white striping, two high peaked "columns" and general "softer" bleeding on around 60 percent of the screen, mostly in a wide middle "mountain" and to the right of that.

I refuse. Looks great to me under my normal usage conditions, I don't need to know all my backlighting flaws :p

Here's a better shot of mine in the dark with brightness turned to full. I normally use it 2 levels from top and can clearly see the bleed when watching movies with dark scenes.

Anyone think this is bad enough to get it swapped? Its beginning to bug the heck out of me.

Every backlit LCD has leaks. It is not restricted to MBPs or Apple. Unless you have a case of exceptionally high amounts of leakage, there is no reason to complain.

I took a picture of mine. Like I said before it's minimal in extreme conditions I will never use the computer in and definitely when dealing with something black or watching a film I will put the brightness down because the brightness on full washes out the black just like it does on a tele. You drop the backlight to get deeper blacks and when you do the minimal spots at the bottom that I never notice until I've just done this are invisible.

Seriously, if you need to use a black screen with maximum brightness in a totally dark room to see a flaw then you are being ridiculous.

I've never seen any LCD, no matter what the cost, or CRT that could pass this test.

100% agreed.

Funny how there isn't a thread comparing the brightness, clarity and colour of these displays. :)

Here is a last gen. to compare to the new uni mbp. There is a little bleeding on the bottom right but since I use an external monitor most of the time, it doesn't bother me.

What's that very bright spot smack in the middle of the screen?

Thats loads better than mine. Gonna take mine back and ditch this macbook pro lark once and for all...

way to be a D---head. like really, hey you all are perfectly content with your computer, well guess what, IT'S FLAWED. yay, way to rain on their parades.

I did the test. My late 08 MBP was built in the middle of October. The backlight leak is so faint, I think I may just be imagining it. In other words, I have no problem with leaks.
