EDIT: Close thread... not true anymore. My mistake. Feel like an idiot.

I am not a developer but signed up for the public beta the day it came out. That same day, I logged in to the mac dev center (again, not a developer... you can still log in with your apple ID), and there was an option to redeem the code to access OS 10.10 Yosemite Beta in the app store. I clicked the link, and sure enough I was able to download the beta from the app store. The link opened up the app store, asked me to confirm the code, and then took me straight to my downloads where the beta download was. So if you want the public beta, you might want to login in to the developer center and see if there is a link to redeem the code. I would post a picture of the developer website showing the link, but after I redeemed the code and downloaded the beta, the link is no longer there. I don't think anyone has posted about this on the forum. I don't know if I got access to this by accident or what, but I am now running Yosemite public beta. You might not need to wait for an email.

I know it says developer preview, but I am 100% not a developer.

If anything you got access to the developer release and not the public beta. I would not install it on your primary machine. If you want to kick the tires with the release then install it on a USB drive.

There's no option in the developer center for anything like that.

Whoops sorry, I know why this happened. My father signed my account as developer. Long story. I knew I would figure this out right as I posted.

    Close the thread.

He probably paid for it. It seemed like this was quite a while ago, but obviously it was less than a year ago

So I feel obligated to explain what happened as this forum can get quite upset about stupid posts. The reason I didn't think I had a developer account was because the section to access yosemite downloads was greyed out. But it turns out that it was only grayed out because I hadn't accepted new terms and agreements or whatever. The minute I accepted those terms today, the section opened back up. So prior to doing so, the code to redeem the beta showed up where all the maverick stuff is. I thought I had I found something new, and I was shocked when I never saw it on this forum. I assumed the link showed up because I signed up for the public beta.
