I just got a used Rev A 1.6/80. Its about a year old so it's certainly got a bit of wear and tear. Has maybe 15cm of screen wobble, measured from the top of the screen moving back and forth.

I'm probably going to have a load of questions so I'll keep it to this thread, along with any impressions I have etc.

First thing I noticed was that scrolling in firefox was really jerky. Is this pretty normal? You'd think it could handle it fine, I don't remember experiencing jerky scrolling on machines quite a bit older then the Air. After looking a bit more I'd say it's perfectly fine on the 13" but running a 20" its reaaaly choppy. Seems slower then I would have thought. The hard drive is the main slow part and that shouldn't have much to do with scrolling an already loaded web page without anything else open. And the graphics are integrated but not that slow.. proc is slow but again it doesn't seem to explain the jerky scrolling.

I did originally get this with the intent of reselling it, then decided maybe I'd just keep it as my main computer. So i'll give it a try before moving up to an Alum Macbook.

There are already a few threads about the MBA Rev A having GPU issues. Please check before creating new threads.

I haven't noticed any slowness in scrolling on browsers. Have you installed all the updtates?

Yup all the updates are loaded up on it. It'll be interesting to see if XP or Windows 7 handles scrolling better.

Is there any way to "solve" the gpu issues. I searched around a didn't find much besides updating the software which is already done :/

How would they determine if it was just normal low-spec slowness or a gpu problem that they have to fix?

I tried safari on the same site(engadget) and scrolling was perfectly smooth, at the same time while firefox was doing horribly.

Did you format the MBA and re-install OSX fresh? and then install Firefox?

Also - 15cm of wobble? that's 6 inches of screen wobble. I have seen maybe 1 inch, but not 6 inches of wobble... that should get looked at....

Oh crap haha I must mean mm. I was judging from the iphone being about 13.

    lol

I guess I'll try reinstalling OSX. Though I think I might upgrade to a Rev B anyhow.

This is interesting. In Windows 7 I have the same thing, except that it's smooth with Firefox and jerky with IE.

I tried an external mouse and the jerkiness in IE went down but still there for the most part.
