So i got somewhat scammed on Facebook Marketplace for $670.

I'm not totally clueless on Computers and I now with more time and patience I could have avoided this by using a bench test or by having a diagnostics done or by simply using the laptop and seeing its performance was bad.

But I was in a rush and got overzealous.

Bought for $670 : 2018 Macbook Air Rose gold 128gb 8gb i5 as good working condition. With applecare remaining 15 months

The good: has apple care
The BAD: has water damage is very slow.

I've tried reinstalling OS and i see it will need repair.

What do you all think I should do next?

Repair thru Apple? Will cost $300 I believe.

Repair thru 3rd party around $180 i believe.

Sell it as is? probably can sell for $500 cash.

Should I try my own repairs? Clean it, reset the pram is it?

Sorry to hear you got scammed. Water damage has a way of creeping up and will probably cause more problems in the future.

If it were mine, I would sell it as is and be honest with any potential buyers about the water damage. And, chalk it up to a bad experience and move on.

Apple repair, before the original owner decides to get a prorated refund on AppleCare+ and you lose that option.

IMHO the choice is all about cost to get from where you are now to where you want to end up.

Since I'd be concerned about the overall longevity of something showing water damage issues, even if repaired, my inclination would be to cut my losses; sell it for what I can get for it (being honest about condition) and then buying from a trusted source such as macofalltrades.com or similar

Thank you all ALL for your comments!

I think I will cut my losses and sell it as PARTS Only.
