First impressions

1. Home button feels like a button. The taptic feedback makes it feel/sound like a button
2. Speaker is louder than the 6/6s+
3. Came with iOS 10.0 preinstalled
4. Raise to open is annoying imo
5. JB is a fingerprint magnet, but it looks awesome
6. Amazon Screen protector fits perfectly
7. 121.97GB Capacity, 116.69GB Available
8. No Yellow Tinting

I'll post some pics when I take some.
#7 what was the availability on the 6splus

I'm using it in a Caseology Envoy case, for now.

Oh wow! I hope these are available in the UK

Stopped by the Apple store today to try out a 7 (I was curious about the whole virtual button thing) and I can say it definitely feels like a click (much the way the haptic feedback on the newer Macbook trackpads also simulates a click) however it does feel like the entire bottom of the phone is clicking rather than just the button. I really had no feelings as to it being better or worse than a physical button, just different.

Definitely feels like a click to me. If I wasn't playing close attention, I would think I was just hitting a normal button.

I have a iPhone 6S Plus right now. played with both iPhone 7 and 7 plus today for 30 minutes. The new home button is no where near to a real home button. The haptic feels strange and it feels like the whole bottom is tearing apart. Or it is close to phone on vibrating mode. I think Apple tried hard but failed miserably to mimic real button feel.

Are you guys, new to iPhone. Sorry for asking as I have been using iPhones since G1. The home button click feel has changed a bit here snd there among the models but iPhone 7 execution is miles away..

Just sharing my personal experience.

This is making me go o_O because several reviews now have said it doesn't feel like a click, but like a weird buzz. Maybe we each perceive it differently?

I haven't ordered/bought my iPhone 7 yet but I'm curious as to what people think of the button as that's the biggest in-your-face change this generation.
It might also depend on how you are holding the phone. If you hold it in one hand and press the home button it really feels like a button - just tested it in a store today. You might feel it differently when holding the phone in one hand and pressing the home button with the other one. I thought it was still fine.

I was more surprised about the reflection of the chrome ring of the home button as it always looks like something is off center which it is not.

Disclaimer: I don't own one yet but I swear there was a slight click with the phone off on my buddy's phone. It depresses slightly but maybe I'm going crazy.

As long as the phone isn't fully powered off the Taptic Engine still does its thing even if the screen is dark. If you press down to wake the phone you'll still get the little click sensation.

If you fully turn it off (long press then slide to power off) then of course it won't work after that.

So you're saying Apple suceeded in simulating a click with the haptic button?

Or is the click more like a buzz?
It's a cheesy buzzing tactile experience. After a full hour and all three settings it's still dreadful.

The good news is my best friend let me use his and after one hour I was relieved I didn't buy one. I sure hope Apple doesn't give iPhone 8 this stupid button.

It's here to stay.

If it can be improved, I hope it will. But good or bad, the haptic home button ain't going away.

The "button" is a let down. If you try the track pad on the new MacBook, this is nothing like it.

Lots of reactions across the board to the haptics of the button. I (and some others who I've seen posting on it) actually like it, and there are plenty who don't like it as well. What setting did you put yours on? I found 1 a bit light, and 3 did get a bit more harsh/buzzy for my tastes, but 2 was a nice balance and works well for me.

I wonder if there's some variability in how the taptic engines are fitting into the casings of various phones?

Is the haptic button is the same exact thing (implemented) as the MacBook trackpad?

If it is, then how come some say the feel is different.

I don't own a MacBook and I'm not about to stop by a Apple store anytime soon to test drive both.

Anyone come across a decent review that covers this like Anandtech, etc?

Just got my 7. It feels like the trackpad more than the old home button.

Yes, it "clicks" and doesnt "buzz" but anyone that has tried the new trackpad would understand the feeling.

It doesnt feel like the home button did. The whole bottom of the phone has the sensation.

It actually feels more like the whole caseback is clicking into the screen, more than the button is being depressed.

Yours might the most honest response so far.

Thanks.

I own a new MacBook Pro and now have the iPhone 7. The home button is nothing like my MacBook. I honesty couldn't even tell a difference on my MacBook, but so far the button on the 7 feels nothing like a real button.

I'm not saying i hate it but it doesn't feel like the real iPhone button.
