You will not be upset with the S230 the pictures from it will definitely look better then that of the coolpix. Simply because of the new chip in it. It has amazing color accuracy and is amazingly fast for a camera of this level.

Check out the original pictures. I host them from my computer. There is a link at that same site it's towards the bottom of the page. You will then be able to fully realize how nice of photos it can take.

Also the most important thing to taking good pictures is being patient, taking lots of photos, and knowing your cameras abilities inside out. Because of the simplicity of the S230 you can learn every feature of it in a month if you want to. This lets you know what to do in what situation to get the best pictures.

The gun flashes are great though that was hand held with a fairly long exposure. So they could have been sharper.
