Y r u gonna wait for Mactel iBooks. Everyone says theyll be buggy. I was gonna do the same thing as u but people turned me away and said to buy now. I also learned the benefits. 1)The current iBooks have many smooth apps for PPC processors. 2) They have little to no bugs 3)The earlier you get one , the happier youll be bc youll already have one instead of waiting.

I'm sorry I wasn't more clear, the Dell I was comparing is a Dimension, like his. I was comparing the performance of my desktop to his, which he said is slow. It's not fair to compare laptops to desktops and I'm definitely not making that argument. I just wondered how he felt an iBook is snappier than a desktop.

I don't think you are going to see a speed bump from going to the iBook from the Inspiron. You would be upgrading in many ways, but not on performance. What processor is the 2.8? If it is a Pentium M (preferable) or 4 (energy hog), the iBook would be a performance downgrade. Although, it would be an "experience" upgrade.

I'm gunna wait for a number of reasons. I am a 15 year old with very little money, so i want my investment to last as long as possible! (i have been saving u for ages from a junk mail round!!!) and also, my brother refuses to help me out with a PPC iBook, so i don't really have much choice anyway! i was so close to buying a Mac Mini a while back to satisfy my lustful needs, so close that i had already ordered it from an Apple reseller, then had to ring back to cancel it!!! I can see the benefits in buying now, but because of thereasons above, i'm waiting!!!! Also i already have a very old iBook, which will get me buy till sometime next year (aaarrrgghhh, it seems so long!!!!)

Im also 15 years old. Lucky you though, you have an iBook. I have to use my familys dell laptop. I wanted an Intel ibook too bc i have an intel processor in my laptop. But as I previously said, the early genertion Mactel iBooks will be a little buggy and not many apps and games will be available for intel processors. People tell me that 1st gen Mactel iBook owners will be the "guinea pigs". Thats why im gonna buy my ibook around January bc Ill use the money I got for my B-day and the money Ill get on Christmas to save up.
