Congratulations. I want to go out this moment and purchase the iPad 2, but I am having a difficult time trying to justify it. I have the iPhone 4 and the 27" iMac. Can someone give me a good reason to justify why I should go out and buy one of them "Bad Boys". I want one sooooooo bad.:) I don't want the money to burn in my pocket.

Honestly there is no 'need', its just the 'want'. If you want one, go ahead and get one now!;)

I also took the plunge today. Figured I'd get a good 8 months or so usage out of it until the iPad3 becomes available internationally (hopefully!). Even then, this will probably be more than enough for my modest needs.

I took the plunge a week ago, fantastic piece of kit not used my laptop since!!!

Thank you all! I am really enjoying it a lot. My poor iPhone And MBP have just been sitting idle since yesterday.

Ya, that happens. After a few months you may find your iPad sitting on the side but lets hope that doesn't happen. If you have a need for the device, you will use it more than you ever imagined. For those who buy it cus it's an iPad - find themselves complaining after a few months.

Congrats. It will probably be 7 months before the next iPad comes out. That's a long time wait. The iPad 2 is a fantastic.

Mine finally came in today!! I got the white 32GB. Love it! I had the original iPad til I sold it to help pay for my wife's new MacBook pro. I haven't even looked at my iPhone lol. Which is a good thing bc It wax being used 6-8 hours a day. I have been able to get two textbooks on it so far. Love it

Congrats everyone. Enjoy the iPads. :)

I didn't use my laptop or phone for a long time after I got my first iPad. It's more fun to do everything on the iPad.

OP, Congrats! I've had mine for a couple months. Been putting it off since the release of the original. Love mine. Use it a lot. Worth the money just to hang out with my wife in front of the TV. That's her spot and I'm OK there now with my awesome toy.

Al, here's a good reason, iphone4 fun X 1000. I've had an iPhone since the beginning and they have little potential for my 50 yr old eyes. I have 2 apps on my iPhone. Have plenty apps on my iPad. The main reason I got my iPad is to show off my photos as I take a lot of pics with my DSLR.

Does anyone know a tip or also have this need?; I really wish I had cursor control arrows on the KB. I like to scroll back or up to fix typing errors and don't have enough control by tapping within text.

Aloha All,
I'm dying to get a iPad3 but I have been waiting for so long gosh I hope it comes out this November???:apple:

Be realistic, March at the earliest. The supposed HD displays are not even mass produced yet. It took months for the iPad 2 to catch up with demand, why would they do that right before Christmas shopping season? Business Sense....

Well as noted above I just bought my iPad 2, but I am thinking about returning it already. I just don't use it enough to justify keeping it, which if I am honest is why I sold my iPad 1 originally. And the sample that I got seems absolutely perfect in every way, unlike what a lot of others on this forum have described. I think that basically I am just not a gadget person. People have said that Apple has done away with restocking fees; is that correct? If so all it will have cost me is the $20 I spent on a case (plus my time, of course). I actually debated with myself a long time if perhaps I should spend just a little more and get a base previous-generation MBA, and now I think I would have been much happier if I had done so. Oh well...

It sounds like you would be better off with a MBA, especially if you don't have a mobile computer. I am a gadget person and I love having my digital stuff in this size package. I use mine a lot for a lot of things. If I was disappointed, I would send it back ASAP.

I took it back yesterday. Unfortunately I paid for it in cash so it will take a while to get a check mailed to me for the refund.

here are some of the useful keyboard shortcuts for the bluetooth keyboard. once you master these, particularly the CMD ones, you'll probably be editing just as quickly as when you had a trackpad/mouse. after learning these my ipad went from being just for early drafts (no editing) to my main work device.

CMD – c (Copy selected text)
CMD – x (Cut selected text)
CMD – v (Paste)
CMD – z (Undo)
CMD – shift – z (Redo)
CMD – Up Arrow (Jump to top of document)
CMD – Down Arrow (Jump to bottom of document)
CMD – Left Arrow (Jump to beginning of line)
CMD – Right Arrow (Jump to end of line)
CMD – Delete (Delete everything on the current line to the left of the cursor)
Option – Delete (Delete the word to the left of the cursor, and its preceding space)
F1 (Dim Screen)
F2 (Brighten Screen)
F7 (Back one song)
F8 (Play/Pause Music)
F9 (Skip one song ahead)
F10 (Mute)
F11 (Volume Down)
F12 (Volume Up)
Eject key (Show/hide on-screen keyboard)

Thanks for those! I knew some of them but really needed some more that's in that list. I have a BT KB, but not on my iPad.

I only use the virtual KB that's in the iPad. That's where I need cursor control because it's hard to tap precisely.

You're welcome. I only learned about them thanks to advice here on the forums.

Hence, the need for a BT KB. I can't emphasize enough how important this has been for my work. The iPad went from an e-reader to a true workhorse, and now I do almost all of my writing on it. Occasionally, when I am standing in a crowded train, or just writing something short, I use the iPad's virtual keyboard. I like it well enough, but not for things like editing (no cursor control). Everything fits easily into my man purse and takes up no more space than an MBA (BT KB + iPad + Incase Origami Workstation).

Well, after thinking about it for a while, I finally got my iPad 2 today. I was going to wait for the next one with retina display to come out, but, oh well! Luckily, my iPad had 4.3.3 installed so I immediately jailbroke it! :) I have got to have apps like sbsettings, Activator, FolderEnhancer, Swithermod, etc. Anyway, I'm using it! :)

What do you mean by retina display??
