Just called a local Verizon store and they had some in stock, with nobody else there. Went and picked up my 256GB space grey iPhone X, took me about 30 minutes!
Love it so far, but definitely a learning curve with no home button.
What's weird is that my Watch would not update to WatchOS 4 with my iphone 7 Plus, but now it's updating when I paired it with my X.
