    Hey everyone.

Long time lurker, first time poster. Anyway, I just thought I would say that I finally have my Blackbook, after months of waiting. I couldn't be happier. This is such a wonderful machine! The specs are:

    2.2 C2D SR
    160 GB HDD
    1 GB RAM
    GMA X3100

I am going to be upgrading to 4 GB of RAM next week or so, (third party).
Will I notice a HUGE difference from 1 GB to 4GB? With 1GB it is pretty fast but I like to have several apps open at once, so Im sure I will notice a difference. Also, I downloaded Google Earth, it is a bit laggy with 1 GB of RAM, will it stop lagging with 4GB? I just thought that maybe Google Earth is a bit of a resource hog. Anyway, thanks everyone!

I think you will see a significant difference between 1gb and 4gb-- but that is just my opinion! Enjoy your new macbook!

You'll notice a difference when you have several programs open at the same time, or if you're playing a high resource intensive game like WoW or something. You can never go wrong with more RAM though :) Enjoy your new MB!

A RAM increase will definitely help the performance of your system, especially if you run multiple apps at once.

    Enjoy your MB.

    Hey dude,

Just bought the exact same computer on Friday! So thrilled with it thus far and I ordered the 4 GB kit from crucial so this sweet thing will really hum.

I hope you got a good deal on yours!

Windows Vista is a fantastic piece of software which suffers from an unjustified bad reputation. Sure, I prefer OS X but that doesn't mean that Vista is "bad".

Some of its features easily outperform anything available on Mac OS, with the most significant in my eyes being Windows Media Center. It's absolutely incredible on Vista and if you've got an Xbox 360 it's even more useful. Yeah, that's right, you don't need a proprietary single purpose box to get content to your TV using Windows.

Vista does have some redeeming qualities, but I feel the cons greatly outweigh the pros. Vista is what drove me to Apple. The OS simply is bloated. Instead of MS's coming out with faster and more efficient products, they end up being slower and requiring more resources. And, this is coming from a hard core PC user of over 15 years.

I believe you just gave a pretty accurate description of Leopard there too.
