Got my nMP, can I install Yosemite without Mavericks first?

Hi,

Just picked up my nMP via Best Buy. I think I'm going to do a completely fresh OS install, not using Migration Assistant to pull files/programs off my 2011 mini.

I thought I could use Command+R upon initial boot to have the nMP pull down 10.10 via internet, but then I see this via Apple's site:

Which version of OS X is installed by OS X Recovery?

• If you use the Recovery System stored on your startup drive to reinstall OS X, it installs the most recent version of OS X previously installed on this computer.
• If you use Internet Recovery to reinstall OS X, it installs the version of OS X that originally came with your computer. After installation is finished, use the Mac App Store to install related updates or later versions of OS X that you have previously purchased.

Is there any way around this?

USB worked fine for me coming from Mountain Lion.

Interesting.

I followed the steps that I linked to above, and used terminal. USB boot appears to be created OK, and I'm installing Yosemite on the nMP right now.
