Remember, you have to authorize the computer to play the music..... I think that's in iTunes Preferences.

The message does not say anything about authorization, it says it cannot locate the file.

I did though check and it says in my account 2 computers are authorized. Any other ideas?

2 computers may not mean *current computer*...

Authorization is tired to device/computer and will stay authorized until u de-authorize it. if u had two Mac's associated to that Apple ID, then sold the computers those two computers would still be authorized.

The only way to de-authorise if via iTunes on the machine, or the only other way if to deauthorise ALL devices (which reset the count back to 0), but u can do this twice per year. You can have up to 5 devices " not sure if that includes iOS devices)

Thanks Tech and Alli, I did de-authorize all and then authorized new one. Still can't find music, But good I did all that, refresher course.

I see: iTunes Library, iTunes Library, iTunes Music Library files, none of them work. There are also folders of others names in there.

sounds like your looking in Finder, not iTunes application

    Try this:

    1. Open iTunes.
    2. Go to File > Add to library...

Then select your song(s) u want to import from the pop-up dialog, or if all songs in in one main folder just select the folder and it will import songs it contains (iTunes doesn't care about sub-folders, it will look in any folder)

    3. Click 'Open".

Tech Ali, I found the folder navigated, progress bar went up. in My music, the songs are all duplicated, and 1/2 have exclamation points. In my playlist nothing plays. What to do? Boy, no app puts you through the ringer like itunes. This is all my music BTW, none store bought. Thanks for helping, hopefully I'm almost there...

iTunes is still the weak link in the Apple ecosystem. Hate it.

Is all your music currently on an external drive?

It's on external, I could bring it to the internal SSD, but I think the issue is now more with library? I don't know..

I'm stumped. I've never tried putting my music on an external since I only use laptops.
