Ok, I bought my first Mac (frustrated PC user for many years) so the title said it all. Before I ask, some of you will ask, what specs and where, so here you go:

2.4Ghz
4GB Ram
250GB HDD

Now my questions, if anyone is kind of telling me the following:

1. How do I get my Mac to display the CPU temperature in the top right corner of the screen?

2. Which apps do you recommend for me?

3. Where can I view important information regarding hardware (like System in Winhell)?

4. iCal doesn't sync properly with MobileMe, any recommendations on what to do?

Thanks

Congrats I bought the same (and same upgrade).

1. iStat Pro is a free widget you can get from www.islayer.com.
2. For you to decide. I recommend Transmission for bittorrents.
3. Hold down alt/option, click the apple (top left), and then click system profiler.
4. It should sync, and if it doesn't, go to mobileme in system preferences, click sync tab, click advanced, click reset sync data. This will replace everything on your computer with everything online.

Install Perian (one stop shop codec collection), Flip4Mac (for Windows Media files), Cyberduck (if you need FTP), Jumpcut to monitor your clipboard, WeatherDock for weather in your menubar (and/or dock).

That's a good start and it's all freeware.

Thanks so far for all the answers, you guys are awesome. +1 Internest for you guys...

Also I forgot to ask how can I read .flv movie files. They are read only by RealMediaGold Player in Windows...

ok dude, time to crank up Google. You have that installed already.

www.leoparddocks.com

^^ i think thats the link to a website where you can download a whole bunch of backgrounds for your dock, and the free software that installs it.

I use it and now I have a an uber slick black dock

Nice, maybe I can find a Mario-themed Finder icon... lol;)

Honestly, not to sound cliche or anything, but this Mac rocks and is waaaay better than my old Windows pc... much snapier... it just works
