well considering there are 18 different models, they can't be getting that many of each. fewer models means a higher number of each...you can only fit so many pads in a box and only so many boxes in a store

I'm with you. I hit the Apple store, Best Buy Mobile, AT&T, and called Target, all by 5:45pm, and all were sold out. The Apple Store line was about 500 deep. So now I get to wait until my IPad ships April 1st. I am flabbergasted at the demand for this.
