I know google maps and Apple Maps are the dominant players here but am wondering if the feature exists when I’m driving on the freeway using my phones gps app to get to where I’m going and if a gps app can tell me if I’m driving above the speed limit?

I use google maps daily and I like that it tells me the highway speed when I’m driving, but it doesn’t tell me if I’m driving too fast above the speed limit.

my friend has the latest and greatest android phone and they showed me on their google maps that very same feature where the speed limit sign turns red if you’re driving above that speed limit. I’m wondering why it’s not on iPhone.

Google apps on iOS always lag in features behind Android. They are rivals after all (e.g., check out Apple's apps running on Android).

Fairly sure Waze, owned by google, does this on iOS. What tends to happen is stuff from waze gets used in google maps on android then at some point way after that it can end up in the iOS google maps.

you can turn an option on in waze to show your speed and it changes to red if you are speeding. Think there might be an option to set how much over the speed limit you are doing before this happens.
