GPS device for South America?

I would like to purchase a GPS device that can be used in USA AND SOUTH AMERICA (CHILE specifically,) and I'd like to know what products are available to me that I can use for such. I am willing to use a device to which I can upload cd's with the maps, but do not want to pay monthly fees if I can avoid them. If anyone has valuable information please help. Pretty much every GPS device can be used globally provided you buy the appropriate Map package.

Most navigation GPS receivers should do, and have South American maps avalable for free or separate purchase.

Likewise, most have on ongoing fees, you just need to pay for map updates and other regions.

just make sure it's both GPS and GLONASS.
