I was wondering if any of you have any experience using any gps devices with your lappy(s). I'd like to connect a gps to my macbook pro and see where I am in real time.

That way, say I'm lost on some dirt road with no signage, I can pull out my lappy and (presto!) know where I am. IT was also be great for doing existing land use surveys

Is there any devices or software that could do this?

what is the cheapest route?

Are there some that work for both Mac & PC?

I want to make sure that don't need an internet connection in order to use the map software.

I have to say I am very interested in that also. I'd lome some kind of USB or bluetooth GPS module that I could connect to a MacBook and find out my exact location and plot a course.
