GPS on 3G model - Will GPS work without AT&T service?

So does your iPad 3G work with out having a plan active? I see my iPad is always connected to AT&T.

Yes. Turn off cellular and the GPS works fine.

I believe you do need the SIM to be in the device for the GPS to work.
