i have a Ipad 3G and have GPS issues.

It frequently will show me as off road (Not on the street) and sometimes will not lock at all.

My iphone is much more accurate and reliable.

Also sometimes when I can on Streetview, all I get is a blank map with no picture data.

If I try again sometimes it will bring up the Streetview.

Any one else have this problem?

I reset network settings and now at least I am on the road. I will still have to test this further.

I was amazed at how accurate mine was when i was just at the airport - had me in the correct parking spot! It was jumping around for awhile though - all in the parking lot.

But man, the maps were slow to load....

Here at my house it took about 10 minutes for it to get to my house, I haven't tried it again to see if it kept that location.

Isn't GPS really only supposed to be accurate to 50 feet or so most of the time?

AND, consider off the road lucky! LOL!! A friend had a new Tahoe a few years back with a Nav system.... it thought she was in the middle of the big lake on the edge of town (my mom's Caddy would do the same thing at times, but not all the time like the Tahoe was doing).

I am assuming you're talking about Google maps? If so, I am guessing that you do not have data active on your iPad. Google maps requires data, lots of it, in order to get a good fix because maps are not stored locally on your iPad. That's why it's more accurate on your iPhone, because you have active data connection.

If you were to use a navigation program, like Navigon, you'd be surprised at how much more accurate iPad's GPS is compared to iPhone. Since Navigon, TomTom etc. store maps locally on your iPad data connection is not required, unless you want to use "live" services such as weather, traffic, etc..
