Is it possible for me to purchase any video card that is mac compat. to put in a "Digital Audio" Powermac?

I don't want it for gaming (obviously) but would like to have better Quartz Extreme performance.

Also, if I do upgrade the GPU will I be able to handle tiger's core effects? I am waiting for my Sonnet 1GHz upgrade to arrive.

I am using a Samsung Flat screen CRT. Will I be able to use core image? I don't know if that has anything to do with the CPU or just the GPU alone.

to use core image on gpu hardware (makes things faster and better quality) you need a shader 2.0 compliant card 5200+ or 9600+.

however only the 9800 is warranted to work in your mac without mods, the 9600 is an option but it's pre modified.
