Hi everyone,
I have a Macbook Pro Retina from Mid 2012 with a 650M inside. When using one external monitor (connected via HDMI-Port) I have very little performance issues and the fan is completely silent. However when adding another external monitor (both 1920*1080 resolution) connected via "HDMI -> Mini display port" the fans go crazy (around 4000 rpm) even when I only open a new tab in safari or do nothing.
Is this behaviour normal and/or can I somehow improve it?

Well you are now pushing the GPU even harder, its now driving three display, the laptop, and two external displays. Its working harder which also drives up the heat.

Have you tracked the actual temps to see if they're spiking as you use multiple external monitors?

Yeah, GPU Proximity is about 74C and assuming from your answer I guess this is normal behaviour. Too bad though, because it really gets on my nerves :/ But thanks :)
