GPU needed if mainly cutting footage in FCPX?

I use a Mac mini 2018 and I will mainly be cutting 4k files, adding transitions and maybe add some motions. No color grading. Does it make sense to use an eGPU now that Metal 2 is out or will I not notice much benefit from it. I'm thinking my workflow is mainly CPU based with some igpu. thanks

You will notice a benefit, but it’s not necessary. Try it out and see how slow (or fast) it is.
