GPU question 2009 4,1 Pro

I am taking delivery of a 2009 Mac Pro this week. Three questions:

Have the stability issues been resolved with the 6870?

Will it still boot with a black screen with the 6870?

Can I run RAID 1 or RAID 0 without a dedicated RAID card?

Yes.

Just make sure you have a proper backup system in place (single disk, RAID, SAN, ... doesn't matter - you need a backup system).

yes, to resolve this, Apple first has to release a new macpro with that card, so we can grab rom and use to flash PC ones.

Given that we're into the GM builds, it's likely that if it's still in, it's going to ship.

However, I am seeing some flux in the GPU drivers. I'm hoping there still is another seed.
