Have u ever used a "gpu stress test app" to check the gpu's performance and overall life?

As for me aren't a good point to check overall life. As a quick tour/system check it might work eventually. But there's always a chance that something can go weird, even on a new one (heard that RTX 3x got a lot, a lot of defective ones)

Ex. I have ma RX580 on the second PC (my older pc), and there's kind of problem when GPU completes those tests (no matter, FurMark or something else) but in games (like Forza Horizon 4, or heavily modded Skyrim), it will crash if I don't play with a slight downgrade (no, it's not about overheating and isn't driver/system or whatsoever related)

Once I lost my mind and tamper and disabled all fans (except GPU's), even closed airflow with a rug and left for about 6 hours thinking that I will overheat or kill GPU.
Nope, still in one piece.

I was hoping that a gpu stress test check could show vital signs of my gpu... see if it works ok or not. Problem is i cannot find an app that will perform this test.

ATI Radeon HD 5750 . It makes freezings that need reboot . HighSierra . I guess im looking for an app that will tell me if something is wrong with the gpu

I assume you mean ATI 5770, original Apple version.....?
What do you mean by freezings..?
Have you tried the GPU in a different pcie slot or tried a different cable?

Techtool Pro has a GPU test, but it is not cheap.
Cheaper to buy a new GPU probably.

None of the 'benchmark' apps will tell you of a problem.

No its 5750 see the attached pic.

Suddenly the screen goes either blank (or with a colour) and will freeze and it will reboot.

I dont believe the iMac has diff PCI slots for the gpu

What will 'benchmark' apps say?

if your system freezes it might offer some insight looking up the logs in the consle.

Sorry I assumed it was a Mac Pro....?

Benchmark apps tell you how powerful the GPU is and produce an OpenCL and Metal score.

console logs? can u pls guide more?
Open Console.app in your Applications/Utility folder.
Most of it is 'gobbledy-gook' to you or I, but others here can decipher it.

Initially look through for any error type of entry, specifically relating to the GPU.

So they just inform about the potential of the gpu?
Correct...?
Unless you get a specific maintenance app (like TTP) which tests parts of your Mac.
But this is about £140.
There may be something on the App Store, but have never noticed anything.

TechTool Pro.....;)
A bit overkill to just check your GPU though.

Did you check Console..?

Without being rude to the OP. A user who doesn’t know where or how to check console logs is unlikely to find anything understandable there.
