Okay, Im most definitely getting the SR80s, the problem is that Im having trouble finding a retailer in South Miami Beach (that's where mom is going next week) nor can I order it online so it arrives to our home in Miami (she's on a business trip and won't go to our house there).

Im guessing I'll have to order it online directly to Costa Rica, such thing will take longer than usual and I know there's a minimum fee I'll pay (sub $10) for the shipping here but I don't know the amount of tax my stupid country will decide to put on it. If they decide its a musical instrument they can tax it up to 49% of the original value or they can just put a 5-13% if they want to; or they can just let it go thru without hassle (happened to me one with an incase case for my MB). Damn Costa Rica's custom agency

It's going to depend on what mood is the customs officer that day. (and i'm not kidding, it really works that way over here).

Congratulations! Really nice. Enjoy!
Thanks man :)

are you happy with your purchase?

any issues with comfort or noise complaints (due to open cans)?

Im extremely happy with them.

Comfort so far so good, they fit comfortably but after a while the tip of my ears will hurt a little, just moving the cans (not even taking them off) will allow me to continue listening without any discomforts.

I've been using them at home only (no shchool yet) but I assume people will complain with the leakage; If so I will reply with a very cordial "f**k off, they're open air headphones". They do leak more than I expected but honestly it shouldn't bother people at all, unless you're doing a test with 'em or in a place were silence is really needed (and were prolly you won't have to amp it up since there's no outside noise).

I've had a pair of Grado SR-60's for almost a year, and they are excellent. Great sound quality, and very comfortable. Beware: everyone else around will be able to clearly hear what you listening to, and they block absolutely no sound that is around you. If this doesn't matter to you, then you will enjoy them very much. :)

True on the everybody will listen to your music cause of the leakage but I find they can mask(?) outside noises when at a proper volume.

Im more and more in love with them, they sound so effin good, I won't bother writing a review, if you buy these you WILL like their amazing sound quality; I might even say they're the best cans for under 100$ (well mine cost me $109.87 after the inernational shipping and all :p) they far surpass the Senn's HD I tested before these [280s specifically], although there's a chance of me getting them for monitoring, even though I don't find them "musical" and rather cold and mechanic I know they're quite precise and dynamic. Back to the Grado's... I think they're equal if not better on the high-end sparkle when compared to the B&O's... Goddam they sound good :p

Yup, I definitely agree. I researched headphones for days, and these Grado's came out on the top.

BTW: The SR-60's and 80's are very similar. I've heard that the 80's are better for rock, and the 60's for classical. As I listen heavily to classical, I went for the 60's.

They're technically the same, although the 80's will sound better when hooked to an amp of some sort (or so they say). I listen to lots of different genres, so far these bastards will sound incredibly amazing with rock, metal, electronic (of all kinds), classical (dunno how much better the 60's are here), punk and pop. Im yet to heavily test them with reggae and latin music (real latin music, not that "reggaeton" crap); they'll probably excel with those to. They're SO much better in classical music than the Senns BTW.

Man, those foams need to be dyed black, the yellow just takes the beauty out of the Grados in my opinion. I guess the yellow may give it an even more retro look...I don't know.

Yeah. I hated the yellow at first, but was too lazy to dye them. Now I don't mind it so much.

Hmm weird looking :p Is there any trade-off of sound quality in exchange of comfort?

Victor

Congrats on the purchase.

I noticed a slight difference in the highs, but not enough to make me go back to stock. I have two pair and was thinking of doing the "quarter mod" on the other pair, as this is supposed to alleviate any sonic difference.
