playing that on a touchscreen is going to be a nightmare

maybe on the ipad it can be pulled off but not on a 3.5 inch screen

I'm sure Rockstar will optimize the controls for touchscreen, its going to be really good🙂

I wonder how crappy the controls will be... I remember GTA3 using about every button on the PS controller. There's just ain't no chance mapping those to a touch screen and being joy to use at the same time. Maybe they will just make it less capable.

Yes. GTA 3 for PSP is indeed called Liberty City Stories. "GTA3" is just shorter 😀

GTA3 and GTA:LCS are different games, actually. Same city, and the storyline interweaves with that of the other games of the GTA3 series, but you play as a different character with a different plot doing different missions. Likewise with GTA:VC and GTA:VCS.

At any rate, have any of you played the Gangstar series? I've played them on my iPad and I think they did a very good job of capturing the feel of a GTA3-like game - far more so than the actual GTA iOS app. Granted, that was on an iPad and not a smaller device, but if Gameloft can pull it off, I'm sure Rockstar (or whoever is making the port) can too; at the very least, there's already a successful series of games they can crib off of.

Games like this are interesting on the iPad for a few minutes until you realize how awkward it is to play it with the iPad's controls.

I dunno man, Chinatown Wars for iPad was a really enjoyable game. I had to set the controls to analog and tweak the display settings a bit, but the payoff was well worth it!

I'm just really not a fan of playing these type of games on mobile platforms. I've tried the GTA knockoffs that are currently in the app store (and while I understand that Rockstar is capable of porting GTA III to iOS,) I just didn't like the controls.

I'd rather play casual games on iOS and leave games like this for the consoles.

Look how far we have come.

I needed a super pc to play this game 10 years ago. Now I can play it on a phone. Do you know what games we played on our phones 10 years ago?

Monochrome 8-bit Snake.
