the only think i hate in apple music is that you cant sort albums from an artists chronologically.

My main issue with Apple Music at the moment is the way it handles playlists more so than anything visual.

We need collaborative playlists.

We need shared playlists that actually update on Apple Music if you update them locally (don't know if this is just my issue, but once I "share" a playlist, it's final and doesn't update).

We need better playlist matching. I don't think I've had a playlist that once I share it ALL of the tracks I've added are available. I understand playlists matching with local content can be tricky (although... it really shouldn't be too hard to do), but just cutting 5+ from playlists I've specifically curated is annoying. If it's truly not available, I wish they handled it like Spotify do and just grey it out instead of it not appearing.

This is obviously a more extreme example because there are so many tracks, but I've started adding all the tracks from my weekly fav mixes into a big playlist. So, no local content being handled, everything is directly from Apple Music. Why are there 39 songs missing when I share it?

In the graphic designer's imagining of Apple Music, you can provide even more granular feedback into mood playlists by filling out a prompt, like "I'm [happy] and feeling like [going out]." Pabesio's description says depending on your response Apple Music will take into account the music in your Library, the mood you chose, and find "up to 5 hours of selected music" for you to listen to.

Siri has got to be MUCH smarter for this to exist!

Have you used an iPhone X yet? They make a lot more sense on the X now that it has a super long aspect ratio. Honestly when the large title font hides and it shrinks to the old title bar design, the top of the UI looks completely off-balance and ridiculous. The status bar “ears” are taller than the old title bar.

Large title font looks natural and balanced on the iPhone X. And guess what, it only shows when you reach the top of a list, shrinks when you scroll down. This just feels appropriate and well done IMO

I agree. I don’t mind it at all. Certainly doesn’t feel comical or anything like I’ve heard on here.

It would be nice if Apple offered a standalone music library App for those who don’t use Apple Music. Or opened the API enough for third party apps simply to play and manage the music library.
Wash your mouth with soap. They're putting the finishing touches on Ping+ and it's going to be amayyyzing!

I love the iTunes version but am not holding my breath for something like that ever happening. I'm conflicted about the tabs at the top, the handle space much better, but add more finickiness. I don't care for social. I like the half height images, but not sure about removing the For You section and replacing it with that little section at the top of library.

Spotify has some awesome „years end“ currated lists just for you and then you can save it as playlists like „your top and most played genre / artist etc of the year“ and a „what you missed“ playlis as well as your top songs and albums of 201x

I sometimes go back to like 2015 and am i like omg how could i listen to this crap or omg i forgot about this song!

It even tells you how old you are based ln the music you listen to haha listening to ed sheeran for example aged me quite a bit

I agree, Spotify’s For You playlists are uncanny at guessing your youth listening preferences. Unfortunately for me, Spotify had a difficult time finding music that was performed on a harpsichord…

Can we just go back to a music player that's easy to use, just like the original iPod was? Just playing my own music has gotten insanely and unnecessarily complicated.

I'd pay good money for an app that navigated music with the same interface as the old iPods did.
Cesium, Marvis, those two are what I recommend, especially Marvis.

As a fellow designer, I like the intention of adding features, but the end result is a heap of disparate typography and random color placement.

Apple needs to copy all the last.fm features. I'm surprised they still hang on after all these years without a clear business model.
Apple should’ve bought Last.fm years ago. Just imagine if you had native scrobbling and your full history!

The "mood" mode is originally from the Beats Music app. And the social tab basically copies most Last.fm features.

Only to realise that Apple will destroy the entire company afterwards.

I love Last.fm. While most people in the US don't know it, it's very popular outside the US.
I don't think the site costs a ton to run and CBS Interactive gets a lot of data on listener habits. Use NepTunes and you can get all your Apple music logged on Last.fm. Unfortunately, the app only works on the desktop.

Horrid-looking to me. But that isn't this designer's fault so much as making a riff on what Apple already did. It's a competent and perfectly logical extension of what Apple does currently. But I don't mean that as a compliment. Just my opinion though.

This makes me actually appreciate the current Music app, and I'm not really a huge fan of it. This mock-up is just so complicated and messy (as well as privy to throw aside proper grammar in favor of cramming more content into tiny spaces) that my eyes need a little break after looking at it. As well, social should never be a distinct feature. It should be integrated into the product. Otherwise you run the risk of it being cast aside by the users (like Ping), just as you did with it as a designer.

Also, the back button being made into a floating button makes absolutely no sense from a design standpoint. Apple has very clearly laid out its concept of layers within the interface, in which the navigation layer (the top bar) is a distinct layer. Why would you put another distinct layer on top of that for the back button? What is that supposed to communicate to the user? User interface isn't even nearly just about the looks. It's about how the user interfaces with the product. Visual context matters. And this mock-up misses the mark completely.

I guess I'm in a minority, but I have no issues with the AM app, I use it everyday and I'm not really sure why people have issues with it.
