I am running a a 1680 x 1050 external monitor from my late 2011 15" macbook pro (2.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 8GB RAM). After running the software update my external monitor seems to be overscanning - everything is slightly larger on the monitor than it is on the macbook pro display. I've looked at the settings under System Preferences / Displays. I have the largest resolution selected for the monitor.

I am convinced that it has something to do with an update to my graphics card. At one stage when I looked at 'About This Mac / More Info' it listed the Intel HD Graphics 3000 instead of the AMD Radeon HD 6770M (it has since gone back to listing the Radeon)

The overscanning is quite subtle but it means that certain programs (like Da Vinci Resolve) that were designed for a certain monitor resolution are now impossible to navigate.

Any ideas?! I'm very close to taking it to the Apple store.

Let me know if i've left any info out. Thanks in advance.

I'm having the same problem, will let you know if I find anything!

Also, when you verify permissions in Disk Utility, do a bunch of differences with System/Library/Prefpanes/Display...?
