Hi i've purchased my first graphite stainless steel watch just over 2 weeks ago . I'm already noticing micro scratching on the case in random places. I've only worn it with sport bands ? anybody else having the same issue ? My Aluminum cases in the past haven't scratched this easily.

Genuine question ....... how are you seeing the sctratches if they are small ..... are they visible to the naked eye or under magification ?

Ive had a graphite since release, worn it daily but cant see any sctratching but I never look at it through a magnifyer (which some do)

I don’t use a magnifier . If I hold the case up closer to my eyes I can see them . But from my wrist I wouldn’t be able to tell .

I have silver ss and it micro scratches all the time. I can polish the silver one though. I'm unsure on the graphite. That's one of the reasons I went with silver.

yeah the silver is the better option then . I assumed the DLC coating would make it impossible to scratch . I'm very careful when wearing it.

The scratches are only visible when looking for them. I couldn't get any on camera though .

I don't think graphite has the DLC. From my understanding, the DLC is only applied to the space black watches.
They should've kept space black with DLC then . Even though the graphite looks amazing . Very premium looking watch.

I have them on my SBS5, I used to have a SBS3 which had none after roughly same amount of time (18mnths) I can only assume the coating process has been changed somehow.

Was convinced the DLC coated ones were impossible to scratch like the SBS5 . Looks like its something you have to live with . Maybe in the future I'll opt for the SSAW and just polish them out.

Is that so ? I was thinking of treating myself to the SS S8 when it comes out
Go for it. You won't regret it . But be aware of micro scratching on both graphite and SS . The SS can be polished out although I've never owned one to confirm that.

I agree with getting ss. In love with mine. I used to have a blue 6, but I'm pretty rough with my watches and the aluminum got pretty scratched. I use a cape cod cloth every couple months on my silver ss. Biger scratches are still there, but it takes all those micro scratches right out. after I polish it the bigger scratches seem less noticable to me as well. Thats just my experience. I don't see myself going back to aluminum.

Can confirm. My daily driver is Graphite, which I love and have no issues with, but I wear a SS to the gym, etc. because I can buff out scratches with a Cape Cod cloth.

Here is the top of my watch. Again I am pretty hard on it. Im a dummy and hit my wrist on stuff alot. It's been a bit since i've polished it and this is about as bad as it gets for me. I can polish it tonight and send an after photo. It works pretty well.

So no micro scratches on the daily driver graphite ? thats hard to believe but maybe I'm harder on it then I think I am .

See, these are the kinds of seemingly innocuous threads that ultimately cost me money. I'm thinking about replacing my aluminum S5 with whatever gets released next month, and you guys now have me thinking I *must* go with SS this time around. :p

Do it! To me it even just feels nicer than my old aluminum one. i feel it has just the right amount of heft without being heavy. I think it looks nicer to when dressing it up ( i like switching bands around often).
