Now that I see this, I wonder if it's a plating issue rather than a scratch. It almost looks like a tiny bit of plating chipped off where the metal ends. But as geekiemac said, it's quite diminutive.
If you'd see it in person you would say they are scratches. very minimal at that but its only been a few weeks. what will it look like in a year ? but that's enough worrying about it life will go on haha

Well here it is post polish. I tried my best to get decent photos. All the micro scratches are gone. Deeper ones are still there, although they seem smoothed out somewhat for lack of a better term. The polishing really brings the shine back into it. I tried to get some of the deeper scratches to show up. Still looks much much better than earlier. Ignore the small chip. Just in the screen protector. Of course I did that to a brand new one because I hit my watch on a door when I got home🙄

There was a fair bit of confusion (in part from Apple, themselves), about the coating of the Graphite Stainless Steel watches, but it was eventually confirmed that it is a PVC coating and not a DLC one so it is not as durable as the Space Black Stainless.

I’ve managed to scratch the DLC on my SBTi S6 (removing rock from a trench) and SBSS Hermes (bathroom floor tiles). They’re not completely immune to scratching. The sapphire glass however… both times the scratching ceased right where the glass begins. Amazing.

This is no different to the fingerprint issue with the midnight MacBook M2. When I got my Rolex I scratched it accidentally and because it was a 4k watch I was annoyed, now it’s literally covered in them. Watches in general are designed to be scuffed and marked that’s part of the charm, you can’t have everything perfect

Just enjoy the watch. It’s already lost 25% of its value and will depreciate the longer you have it anyway. It’s not an investment and life is too short to be studying scratches on a metallic watch case that are barely visible. Stop looking for imperfections otherwise it’ll drive you insane. Just enjoy your new gadget
even tho im disgusted by your profile picture, I will have to agree 120% with you, we pay exorbitant amounts of money for tech that is supposed to make our life easier and we end up enslaved to protect these things , defeating the original purpose, the enjoyment of such things. just enjoy the watch mate it looks great. and yeah I am an United Fan😆

See, these are the kinds of seemingly innocuous threads that ultimately cost me money. I'm thinking about replacing my aluminum S5 with whatever gets released next month, and you guys now have me thinking I *must* go with SS this time around. :p
You definitely must. And then, you'll never look back. 😁

The problem with Apple tech is that it looks so... perfect. And it's expensive as hell. So yeah, we treat them like the jewels of the crown. But they're not - they are consumer products... If we'd use plastic Xiaomis we wouldn't probably think like that. 🤣

Some more scratching on my Graphite SS AW7. Not scratched by milanese loop. Normal everyday use. No idea how they happen.
