Just listened to this yesterday..
New Order - Technique
True Faith is one of my favourite songs. Different album, but still a great group
I agree that
Technique is perhaps their most consistent album; I have it and the "Fine Time" and "Round & round" 12" singles.
"True Faith", as featured on their
Substance compilation, is also a classic.
But my fave New Order song of all is
"Bizarre Love Triangle", from their otherwise pedestrian album
Brotherhood. Shep Pettibone's extended remix of "Triangle" gets my vote for best remix, any song, any genre,
ever.
Other 80s synthpop/new wave/alt-dance classic albums:
Pure Energy!
Freedom Of Choice rocks, too.
Bouncing Off The Satellites deserves a mention here as well.
(Depeche Mode's best album IMHO,
Violator, was released in 1990 and thus falls just outside this discussion)
The pinnacle of 80s Italo Hi-NRG.
And my
absolute favorite album of all time:
I could wax poetic about 80s music all day long. Keep 'em comin', folks!
YET ANOTHER EDIT:
Nitzer Ebb - That Total Age
...
Where... Is The YOUTH!
Kraftwerk - Computer World
...
Lovingly minimal and picture perfect-- the logical continuation to KW's
The Man-Machine.
