I'm calling applecare tomorrow to confirm that my registration code is good--everything went smoothly, but it has remained in "registration in progress" mode and I haven't yet received an email from them. I've read of this happening to others, so I think it's just a phone call that will clear it up....BUT to be on the safe side, I haven't left feedback in case something goes wrong.

I'm going to do it first thing in the morning so hopefully the discounts will clear!

AFAIK it takes a while to change and I don't think I got any confirmation email. I did however get a 'certificate' and some other documentation via snail mail.

If the key wasn't valid it wouldn't have made it through the registration process.

Just wanted to say thanks!

This is so cool... it took some time to figure out the crappy Microsoft website and their registration process didn't work the first two tries, but I finally managed to register.
Than I did the ebay thing and the seller (macman812, if anyone is interested) sent me the code within 2 hours.
Went to Apple's website and registered for my Applecare. Took another couple of hours before I could print out my proof of coverage. A little bit later the 25% discount showed up in the live.com site as well. Now I just have to wait for them to transfer the money to my PayPal account.

I'm a happy camper.

Does anyone know if i purchase this applecare will it work for my UK macbook?

I dont think UK gets the live.com deal but still at $144 thats still around £100 and again still half price in the uK

Yes it will. APP works in every country where Apple has an authorized service outlet. So pretty much most of EU, Nth America, parts of Asia etc.

MM

Yep, this morning the registration cleared, I guess it just took a couple days, as everyone said.

So the extra 10% cashback should clear for everyone who mentioned my ebay id as soon as you receive the code/leave feedback!

Looks like we Euros can't take advantage of the Live.com deal... :(

I also just did the livedotcom 25% + 10% coupon from ebay. I e-mailed memorymate to see if I can get another 10% back. So we will see how it goes.

original: $195.00
10% coupon: $175.50
cashback: $ 48.75
And hopefully 10% more. Thanks everyone for the information about live dot com

You should see 10% of 195, since Memorymate 'sees' you paid 195, not any less because of promotions. :)

I just ordered from the seller. Great price.

144 to start minus 14.40 for the 10% CHOLIDAYNOV2008 code. (It checks that you received the email previously so the 15% code may not work for you).

Then minus the cashback $36 account for the live.com and 14.40 supposed cashback from mentioning melissa's name to the seller. (I'm assuming the 10% off will be taken from the 144 but I may be wrong so it may be slightly less than 14.40 off for this "xmas" cashback.)

$79.20 after rebates. Not too shabby! Thanks for the heads up.

Registration is in progress now. Yes! now I can fix my superdrive when I get back to the states. I'll let you guys know about the additional 10% if it goes thru.

Re: MBA Purchase

Is there a way to Paypal using my 0% interest credit card? Or does this have to be through bank account?

Guys, any chance people like me Non-Americans can get the live.com discount somehow??

As far as I know it's not possible. I don't know if they check by your ebay address or what but that's the way it is.

You can also use a credit card. That's fine. You choose what payment method to use when in paypal. Just make sure you select your credit card as paypal is tricky trying to get you to use your bank account instead.

FYI, since melis by now probably will have paid 0 due to all of the 10% cash backs she has you can feel free to tell the seller that brop52 on ebay recommended memorymate. :)

Just go to live.com, search for Macbook Applecare (or any other popular item for that matter) and the first link that comes up should be for ebay and offer 25% cash back.

I'm doing exactly this but I can't seem to find any link for 25% off from ebay sellers, I just see a link to eBay sellers. I feel pretty clueless
Anyone can help me figure out what I'm doing wrong or maybe promotion is up? :(

It's almost like the seller I bought that applecare from KNOWS I spread the word.

They sent me an email saying that any ebayer that purchases an applecare and mentions my ebay username (melissuhh) will receive 10% cashback, and I will receive 10% cashback too!

SOOO...if you're still looking for a cheap deal:

10% ebay coupon
25% live.com cashback
10% "xmas" deal cashback through MemoryMate

This deal is good through 12/31/08.

Here's a link, it looks like they sell applecare for ALL apple items! : http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/memorymate

When purchasing, mention "melissuhh" and the 10% cashback xmas deal. ;)

Thanks! I just ordered, I only mentioned your melissuhh ebay username in the comments section of the payment. Do you think I should do anything else?
The 25% is showing as pending in my MSN live account. I did get the 10% off. So as long as both of these come through, then the extra 10% will just be GRAVY!
:D

JimBo Slice. Just go to the live.com link, do a search, and the cashback is the first list in the "Sponsored Links" section. On my Firefox session it has a slightly blue background.

Will the 10% coupon invalidate the cashback?

Hi,

The live.com cashback states that any additional discounts might result in the cashback being invalidated. Has anyone successfully gotten the cashback (i.e. the check was actually issued) and used the 10% paypal coupon at the same time?

It takes 60 days. I doubt they would know anyway.

wowza!

Got the 10% cashbacks from memorymate--I used the 10% ebay coupon too, but since the seller doesn't see that, you do get the full 10% of listed price, so I got $14 for the $140 item, even though I technically paid $126 upfront!

Awesome...this is the ultimate deal. I guess I picked the right time to buy!!

Hey thanks for the screen cap man I appreciate it but I guess it just doesn't work for people in Canada. Thats where I'm browsing from and that sponsored link just doesnt come up :(

I had a few questions regarding the process..

I understand that the 10% ebay coupon will not work unless ebay sent the code to your email account or it is in your ebay messages. At what stage do you enter this code so you can verify this? Is this after you buy the product and log in to paypal to pay for the product?

How do you create a Microsoft Cashback Program Account? I read the terms but want to verify that this is correct.
I know how to search using live.com and then go to the ebay page where you see the cash back banner at the top. Then you go to the product, buy it now and proceed to buy the product with paypal. Then you go to My Messages on eBay.com and look for a message from eBay with "cashback" in the subject line and there will be a link to create the MS account if you do not have one.

Thanks for the help...

at this point who should I refer to memorymate for the 10% extra xmas cash back?

Finally, has anyone used the MS cash back to buy a new apple laptop? Any seller to recommend? I would like to get a MBP, at least from someone who would take it back or exchange it if it is DOA. Or maybe I will go ahead and get it from amazon since it seems like the sellers are raising thier prices (about 1850-$200 cashback=1650, amazon is $1800 AR)

Perhaps I could make a small purchase to find out if I did indeed get the ebay 10% coupon, but can that be used more than once?

Thanks

You enter the 10% off code as you are finalizing your ebay purchase and you also enter the person's name you are going to refer in the comments box on the same page. You can refer anyone you would like to that bought from them. I'm brop52 on ebay but you can refer the OP if you'd like.

You create a live.com account by using a hotmail account or making a new one. Just go to live.com and go through the process to make an account. You should get an email to validate the account. You are correct on the procedure to use live.com and get your ebay cash back.

For the ebay coupon make sure it is in your my messages. If it isn't, you aren't eligible for the coupon. Also, today is the last day of the coupon if my memory serves since the coupon is for November. It should have the terms on it. I believe it can only be used once, and make sure your emails match on your accounts. I believe some people have tried using it with buying a computer but it has been hit or miss. You can only get up to $100 off a purchase with that coupon.

Good luck!
