EDIT: This should be under Accessories, I've requested for it to be moved.

I did a little searching after discovering how expensive and overpriced Apple's OEM iPad Pro sleeve is and I found a really great alternative. Here it is: https://www.etsy.com/listing/259539942/fathers-day-ipad-pro-105-129-97-evo?ref=market

It's a much thicker, high quality leather that will weather nicely and will provide additional durability. It can also hold the Apple Pencil and comes in the same black, tan and navy blue colors. The greatest part? It costs $77 for the 10.5 version, $52 less than Apple's. I know there are some OEM purists on these forums so for those people don't bother commenting and complaining, but I thought other people might be interested in this alternative. I'm going to buy one myself soon.

Not 'much better'. Not as good. The Apple case IMO is nicer, albeit you pay for the premium.

Your going to get close seconds for half the price. Go for it, or go for broke.....literally :D

The Apple case is very swank.

The Apple Case is “nicer” because it has an apple logo on the back :p This one has higher quality materials and costs more to make, no doubt. And some might like the style of apple’s better, but that’s totally up to stylistic tastes. But like I said it won’t please OEM purists.

It's a much thicker, higher-quality leather that will weather nicely and will hold up much better than Apple's sleeve. It can also hold the Apple Pencil and comes in the same black, tan and navy blue colors. The greatest part? It costs $64, $90 less than Apple's! What makes it higher quality exactly?

the price.

The leather is a lot thicker and not as flimsy as Apple's. "Handmade, Cowhide Full Grain Vegetable Tanned Leather"

thicker leather? Please....:D

But really, I don't own the Apple one, and if I'm smart won't. But it just seems unfair to make comparisons like this, sight unseen.

I didn’t call the Sleeve as a whole higher-quality, I called the leather higher-quality because it just is. They definitely use a more expensive leather that Apple frankly can’t use because of the amount of product they sell and, yes, it’s thicker and not a paper-thin sheet of leather like Apple’s.

I think you misunderstand the purpose of this sleeve !
the one you make is too bulky for that purpose,.. nice,.. but bulky

Not everybody needs a tough thick sleeve for their iPad Pro, I like mine to be a slim and light as possible but still protect against scuffing, and hold my pencil.
and if it is a very nice looking I'd spend a little more :)
when I take my iPad Pro outside while traveling, I use a tough sleeve.

Still not sure how you're substantiating your claims of "higher-quality" ("it just is" is meaningless.) additionally, how do you know it's more expensive?

They use full-grain cowhide leather: ”Due to its natural properties, full grain leathers are the most resistant, natural and premium part of the leather, literally the best money can buy.” Now it’s possible Apple also uses full-grain leather for theirs, I searched but couldn’t find if they did, but regardless it’s a very good leather and this sleeve has a higher amount of it and costs a fraction of the price!

Thank you for this! I was looking for a good leather sleeve and like this one much better than Apple's flappy one.

For certain products and brands, I sometimes like OEM only accessories, but for iPad, I think you look like a goober carrying around Apple everything :). I like a more unique style of case and etsy is usually the best place. I've been using a leather sleeve from a designer there for my Macbook Air for years now.

I have both of my MBPs in Harber sleeves ... navy blue, to be precise. The quality is superb and shipping to the US is speedy enough - 3 or 4 days. I'll order a sleeve for my iPad Pro as well.

Thanks for the link. Looks good. Any photos of the one you purchased?

I haven’t purchased one quite yet. I’m going on a trip next month so I’ll probably get it soon to keep my iPad Pro safe on my travels. I’ll let you know how it is and post some pictures!

cheers, a review with photos would be helpful.

You're insinuating if it's not Apple branded, it's lower quality, but that's not true.
Not at all. I'm saying it's a different case, never mind the brand. I'm sure the quality is fine.

If someone is looking for a puffy felt lined side-slotted sleeve that likely weighs twice as much as Apple's and has an arguably less elegant pencil storage solution, it's perfect. But saying it's a "fraction of the price" implies that it's comparable to Apple's. I don't think it really is.

Yes, they are both sleeve cases. Yes a milkshake and a Yoo-hoo are both cold chocolate beverages. The similarities end there.

Yep to each his own basically. I like the Harbor London case much more than Apple's thin and floppy case where the pencil inelegantly hangs off the edge. :)
