Not to be a Negative Nancy, but this IS bad news for switchers. i hate to admit it, but one of the reasons Mac OS doesnt have viruses is that nobody would make a virus for that small of the market share. Yeah, OS X does have alot of great security features, but anything can be worked around. More viruses for PCs means more people switching to Mac, which means that Mac OS X is going to be one more target.

Then why did Mac OS 9 have viruses when it had an even smaller market share?

Does Mac OS X have viruses? No. Will it some day? Perhaps. Perhaps not. To be sure no OS is perfect. But the biggest reason for lack of OS X viruses is not market share but the security model.
