Iphone is better in terms of specs and OS.

The iTouch now joins the iPhone in terms of having a more sophisticated OS with better hardware specs.

Thoughts? (PS. Glad I wasn't a sucker that bought the 1st gen iPad:D)

A screen that dense would make the iPad more expensive and apart from that the resolution is good on the iPad for viewing content.

Well of course the iPad isn't that bad at all, just compared to the iPhone and now the iTouch. It's pretty sad that those are like a third the size but have better specs hardware and OS wise.

    LOL

Still loving the iPad. I've been enjoying it since launch day. Use it at least 2-3, sometimes as much as 8+ hours every day. It's next to my Mac, on the back deck, on the couch, out with me at clients, and so on.

The new iPod touch looks AWESOME, and I'll thinking of getting one mostly for the HD Video recording and FaceTime. (I have an older iPhone.) I think Apple has set the standard for mobile devices this year. Everyone is scrambling to catch up.

(PS. Glad I wasn't a sucker that missed out on having a 1st gen iPad) :D

I don't understand you people who complain about the iPad's screen. I still find it amazing and the pixel density is very good. A small mobile device like the iPod Touch or the iPhone have different needs and the biggest pixel density makes for the smaller screen...

Yeah I'm a bit mad about that. Enough to start threads bashing this? No. Because nothing beats the screen size. After using the iPod touch primarily for a week was an eye sore. And I would hate to look like an idiot holding my iPad up to take a picture. But what baffles me more is how the specs are the same. Oh well.

Go read books, browse the web, watch movies, etc etc on the iPod touch and come and tell us if it is better than the iPad. Nice try comparing apples with oranges...

The screen size and pixel density are fine for the First Gen. Remember, the iPhone and iPod Touch are both part of the new generation. The iPad is midway though the life cycle. We will get the same banter when the iPad joins the party when it is refreshed and the iPod hasn't.

There couldn't possibly be anyone who though this was actually not going to happen. Come on, the iPad was near-obsolete (spec-wise) the day it came out.

Wait for new and improved iPad 2.0 with retina display. Apple needs to make money somehow. They can't release the unicorn right away.

Original poster is just trying to stir flames because he/she didn't buy the iPad, maybe couldn't afford it, so the jealousy and anger is obvious. Misery loves company. Maybe this is the child who who started a million "Should I Wait to Buy iPad?" threads.

Come November they'll all have the same OS. And for Hardware the differences is more RAM, and that Retina display. But I don't think the Retina display is meant for bigger screens like what the iPad has.

The iPad does everything I bought it to do. I don't care what the specs of other products are as long as what I already have still works.

News flash - new products will have better specs than old products.

D'you think the iPod touch has 512 MB ram?
    I think it has.

What computer isn't obsolete the moment you buy it?

To the OP: if you think that the iPod Touch is better than the iPad, it seems that you should buy the Touch. No skin off my back.

In the meantime, I'll continue to enjoy my iPad.

You just seem to be bitter that your shiny new device doesn't seem so shiny anymore. Here, have some tissues...

I wouldn't consider the 13 inch MBP I bought 7/2008 obsolete. In fact, it has more storage, more RAM, and the same processor as the latest 13 inch MBP. Will you be able to say the same with you iPad v1.0? There are plenty of computers out there that would not be considered obsolete for a while. But, putting in 256 MB of RAM (and as a result, having your Safari always reloading) is playing with fire (and stupid).

I'm trying to figure how what exactly makes the iPad obsolete? 256mb more RAM? Dual camera? "Retina" display? All of those are subjective. It's clear the OP's intentions are not noble.

I wouldn't call an extra 256 MB of RAM subjective when the current version of Safari pages needs to continuously reload. The others are subjective though.

Just move on. Buy it. Don't buy it. No one cares what you do. Some people like it and some people don't. No need to be a jerk about your position on it..

You're right! I totally hate Apple now.

I was watching the presentation streamed to my iPad and when the new iPod Touch appeared, I couldn't believe it - but my iPad instantly became a piece of useless junk! All the handy functions and convenience it once had was magically taken away.

I just bought it last week and now it's utterly ruined and useless! One minute I was really enjoying how convenient it is, and then the next it might as well be a paperweight with a data contract.

Boy did I get suckered! I'm pre-ordering an iPod Touch and hope nothing new ever comes out after I get that. (They do have 3G, a larger screen, and can run iPad Apps, too, right? I mean, they are so much better, right?)

    True.

I bought one anyway, but not because of the specs. I bought it for the form factor and convenience.

A long time Apple customer, it's been my experience that Apple does typically release devices that are rather old tech. Take for example the first iPhone. Every other major handset maker was using 3G, but Apple got cheap and left it out for the sole purpose of having something to "upsell" when they released the next version.

I still love my iPad, though I miss not having multitasking and folders yet.

I love my iPad too, the new iPod touch may have a better screen but it's not fair to compare them, because
1_iPod touch has a 3.5" screen with 960x640 resolution, whereas iPad has a 9.7" screen with 1024x768 resolution, the ipod touch has more pixel density therefore when you look at both displays from a close distance, you"ll find iPod looking better but from a far distance, there won't see much of a difference, so IMO it's not fair to compare them,
2_iPad is far better than iPod touch/iPhone in terms of web browsing, watching vids and reading books, because of having a much bigger
For me, they are different devices with different usages.

I imagine we'll see something either before christmas, or in january ;)

Wait, you mean products that were released in June and September have better specs than a product released in April?:rolleyes:
