I just downloaded Pocket Tunes Radio. You go the the web part of it and go to the sirius website, or xm and type in your info and launch player. Works great. Add it to your favorites so you dont have to type in your info each time. Works great while we wait for the official app. Only downfall is its 9.99. Worth it to me though.

I was just going to post about this app as well. I stumbled onto the news that Pocket Radio Tunes (App Store Link) supports streaming of Sirius and XM. It does a whole lot more than that, but this is the top thing that I wanted it for. It seems to work by getting itself logged into Sirius or XM via their respective web interfaces. It then caches your login info for future use, and once you navigate through Pocket Radio Tunes built-in web UI, you can save favorite channels. At that point, it can connect to any channel by tapping on your favorites. The app auto navigates through the Sirius or XM UI to start the stream.

As mentioned, it does cost $9.99, but it's worth it to me while I wait for SiriusXM to get their own app launched. Here are a couple of links from NormSoft (the maker of the app) that shows how the initial configuration works:

    Sirius configuration...

    XM configuration...

I can already tell you that I've had no issue streaming on my 1G iPhone over EDGE, and definitely no issue over wifi. On EDGE, the initial connection is slow because it is navigating the Sirius/XM web UI to login and start the stream. Once the streaming starts, it sounds just fine. FYI - I'm only streaming at the lower bitrate. I have NOT tried the high bitrate stream...yet!

Lastly, I have NOT tried running the app for hours to see how battery life is; however, I did let my iPhone go to sleep and the streaming continued.

    Check it out!

i cant get it to log me in i go to the web section and go to sirius.com and click on media player and when i put my login info in it either freezes and doesnt do anything or it takes me back to the login screen and freezes. I have tried on wifi, edge, and 3g it does the same on all. is there some special way to log in with this app.

If you have trouble getting into the Sirius media player in Pocket Tunes, be aware that your account login may be different from the login for the media player. Be sure you can login into media player on your computer first.

I had to remove Pocket Tunes, then reload it, to get logged in after goofing up my login attempt.

There is another Sirius XM thread where we have been discussing this app for the past few days. There may be more advice there.

I wish I could help on this one. I got in on my second try, and now that the info is cached, I haven't had any further issues. I think I 'fat-fingered' my password the first time.

Sirius login and streaming does work. Good luck.

does it take a really long time to log you in the first time like more than 5 minutes i let mine sit there for about 5 minutes and it wouldnt do anything i pressed the home button and it got me out of the app maybe I am not waiting long enough for it to log me in the first time. it seems to work for everyone except me, it just freezes everytime I try to do something on it.

If your having trouble logging in maybe try deleting the app from your phone then reloading it. (your not charged twice). That's what I had to do when I messed up trying to log in.

I think this is an exception as opposed to the rule. It might be something with the way it's stream on pocket tunes. I would like to see what would happen if you picked a station on your iphone, then logged in on the computer to stream music... then switched the channel on your iphone. I know in the past that sometimes (just using computer) it would disconnect me right away, but other times it took up to 30 minutes before I was kicked off for being logged in twice.

How is the sound quality? I'm tempted to try this but would like to use it to plug into my car aux port and listen to it. I have a pretty good car audio system so if the streaming bit rate is low, I'll probably hear it.

    Gadgetdad,

What have you seen in terms of battery life so far? I know I have a couple of streaming apps that are better at battery efficiency than others, most likely due to the type of audio transferred. I was hoping this might be a bit better than AOL Radio.

    Thanks

Does anybody know if you can stream music using this app from the dock connector, or if you have to use the headphone jack? I can't remember if the dock connector will only stream music from the iPod app.

I normally use it in a dock so battery is not a concern for me. Iam still playing with it though and will let you know.

Thanks Gadget, I'm staying tuned to this thread. I just don't want to get it and have it drain half my battery after an hour of listening or something. I'm very interested in this app, however. I'd like to listen to some O&A in the AM's while riding to school on the bus.

PS...I'm THRILLED they're back on satellite full-time. Love waking up to profanity. It starts my day off right, just like the old days.

So do you stream the music through the doc connector or are you using headphones?

AFAIK you stream through the headphones or built-in speaker. It's an app that is playing a stream - much like Pandora or any other internet radio app.

On my fully charged 1 1/2 year old 1G iPhone, I had Howard Stern streaming over wifi at 31 kbps for about an hour and only saw the battery drop a small amount (< 5%?). I mention the age of my iPhone because my battery definitely isn't as strong as when I first got my device.

So far, so good. No complaints here!

    Playing in the Background

Can you do this with the app? I read a review on Itunes that someone was saying they were surfing the net and stuff while listening. I was listening to Stern and pressed the main button and it kicked me off...

    let me know
