Green texts

Apple Watch series 3 LTE updated to Watch OS4.2

All texts to my normal iphone crew from the watch are coming in green - like I am not on an ios device.

Using the hearts, thumbs up, etc icon just generates a green text that says 'loved a text'. This all happened with the upgrade - was working perfectly before.

Anyone else have this issue and what can resolve it?

Try singing out of iMessage and log in again, or turn it off and on again

Thanks - everything in watch was paired to my phone which was set up and working correctly. A reboot of both seemed to solve the problem - which I should have tried from the outset.
