I have created tables in Tables and in TextEdit. However, I cannot persuade either application to show the gridlines. In Tables, for example, there is a specific command in the Menu Bar for "Show/Hide Gridlines." Whichever command I choose, the result is the same -- no visible gridlines.

Might it be that there is some incompatibility with Yosemite ?

I'm not familiar with the Tables app, but I have encountered this in Pages and I see it's also possible in TextEdit. Double check that your table gridlines color did not revert to white or transparent.
