Honestly, even when I bought it, I wouldn't have thought the iTrip would be so good. The sound quality goes from "OK" to "Excellent", depending on the tuner and the environnement.
Go for it!

instead of making a new thread i thought i would just start this up again ;)
Since my car doesn't have a casette nor a line in and want to play my ipod in the car cause i now have over 3,000 songs! i was thinking of getting the itrip my friend in FL has one and it worked ok.... it was spoty in some areas.... Anyway.... i esp want it when traveling to and from school NY to Boston (milton to be more exact) How do you think it will work on I-95 and I 93? What about in Braintree, and quincy, etc....

I think you should be alright, as long as you're not passing too close to any highly-populated areas. Like previous posters have mentioned, the reception is noticeably worse in cities and larger towns, but is great when out on the back roads. Should certainly work fine enough.

iTrip

My wife and I each have one (I have a 3G ipod and she has a mini) and they both work quite well. Once you have it set to a frequency that works for you it is very easy to use and produces satisfactory sound. If you visit Griffin's web site you can download a program that will show you the available frequencies for your area http://www.griffintechnology.com/software/software_itrip.html Since I am in Canada, and the software only identifies frequencies in the USA, I can't say how accurate the software is but it should give you some idea.

Don't go Belkin

Whatever you do dont get the Belkin Tunecast I or II. They both are terrible, you get about 10 hours of battery life (AAA) if that, and they do a poor job of broadcasting. I live in the open plains of Oklahoma, where there are maybe 6 to 7 stations, and it still has a lot of static.

My 2 cents...
