LOL! Just buy this exact helicopter WITH an included controller for $20 from Amazon right now! How do I know? I already have the S107G at home. :)

It's neat technology, but an EPIC FAIL on the pricing.
Does this controller have a gyroscope in it?

If would be great if you didn't need the add on remote to the iPhone.

What no bluetooth helicopters are available? :)
That crash after five metres?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_4 like Mac OS X; en-gb) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8K2 Safari/6533.18.5)

For the price tag this is extremely interesting. What use I'd actually get out of it is a different matter, but thats the price where people say "why not".

re original article

we've come a long way from the one of the greatest toys i never could afford back in the 1970's - the mattel vertibird
show me a real video of how this thing flys
probably not getting one

sold out

looks like they are already sold out of the first run, no longer taking pre-orders

Vert cool commercial, if a tad flawed in relation to how the chopper really flies.

You're absolutely much better off picking up the same chopper with gyroscope, the Syma S107G for much less. Having a real, physical, tactile controller is a must with these small helis. I have numerous S107G choppers and love 'em.

The ad implies that you can control it when you aren't in direct view (IR requirement). Bit gutted that it operates on IR..

WiFi would be so much more fun, especially since you could whack a webcam on the front and do some augmented reality stuff, similar to the AR.Drone.

If it needs that clamp-on thing, I’d just as soon pay less and get a normal RC copter with a controller that doesn’t require an iPhone stuck into it!

Parrot’s AR.Drone costs more, but actually uses your iOS device in ways that matter.

Precisely, would not bother with this myself. They have it in the department stores here already.

If the app can multitask a remote controlled ios camera would be a nice function for ariel photograhy and video on this heli.

Does anyone have a discount code for this item? I think $49 is a little high so any discount code would be great.

It's great and all, but why do you need an iPhone or iPad for it? I mean, couldn't they just make a small cheap remote controller with real buttons? I doubt it would cost more, since it would not require developing and app. It would probably be cheaper and anyone could use it, not just iPhone people.

You could, but it wouldn't be as cool, now would it?

(Shh. Just go with it.)
