What exactly is the PowerMate?

I've seen people on these boards with them, saying how great they are and how they used to work without them.

it's like a volume knob, you also can do other stuff with it like in FC you can stip frames it's really cool!

i wonder when (or if) griffin's going to update the software for intel macs. my powermate is currently useless with my imac. no mention on their site yet...
