got the Survivor at Wall Mart for $39 - its the best heavy protection case available in my opinion- I also have a Otter Defender and I prefer the Survivor- both cases holster suck- the Otter's is too beefy and the Survivors is to flimsy.

Living in S. Florida I'm more likely to fall into a pool than drop my phone off a 12 story building. I'll be getting a LifeProof case for my 4S when I get it.

Is the life proof really water proof and slim? I am tired of leaving my phone in my car or my house because of rain/snow/body of water. I would like to keep my phone with me at all times. Does the life proof really give me this?

Check out the videos on lifeproof's website. When you buy the case you first have to do a water test, to make sure it really is waterproof prior to putting it on your iPhone. I did it for mine and it really does work.

Thanks for the tip! I usually forget to test things like that out. Based on the videos I will probably try one out this weekend. I hate when I have to part with my phone because of water. Plus it has a screen protector and shock.

Your welcome, go to facebook and check lifeproof out. A bunch of people are having qc problems and I guess are having a hard time responding. Luckily I haven't had any issues at all. The case is a keeper for me.

i just got the lifeproof. like it but, the back cover scratches very easily. do you have this problem too? mine is the black one.

I just picked up one (LP) from best buy for several reasons. I work outdoors a lot in snow and rain even drenching down pours. In the summer working or working out I can sweat bad enough to saturate anything in my pocket.

I got it and was somewhat disappointed with the quality. Not that it's bad but it was 80 bucks so I was expecting more.

It doesnt look as durable was but if you really look at the edges it is pretty thick. I think it can handle drops just fine.

It's waterproof which I tested. This is from my kitchen sink.

Lol.

The screen protector took me a day to get used too. But it lays flat for the most part. It is slightly raise off the actual screen. Not really sure for the reason but it's obviously intentional.

I think the main issue would be the charging port. It only fits oem size plugs which maybe an issue with accessories.

Overall I like it and it will protect my iPhone very well.

5) There does not appear to be all that much protection over the front glass, I could see the screen breaking easily if it fell face first on to an uneven surface, but this is true of any case as far as I know.

I have personal experience with this one. I bought a brand new iPhone and Lifeproof case. I put the phone right in the case. Less than 2 months later, my five year old wanted to carry the phone for me. He dropped it less than 3 feet and the glass is completely shattered. I have had several iphones and never had any damage until I used a lifeproof case. Also, I contacted them and they were neither helpful nor nice. I don't recommend the case at all.

I am sorry this happened to you.:(

None of the cases in question could survive a face plant. They do not protect the glass because you need to be able to use the phone. My iphone has fallen several times in my Lifeproof case, once in to a puddle and it carries on fine. But it has not had the bad luck of a perfect face plant yet, and I hope it never does.

Now the comment about customer service is one I have heard many times about them, but I have not had to call them at all yet so can not speak too. It could be a good reason to avoid them now that other companies are coming out with water proof cases.

i like the griffin, great protection but its huge! i'm thinking of going LP, is it much slimer, or even worth it?

In all honesty, the Lifeproof falls short of the $80.00 USD price tag. Of course the iPhone 4/4S has a beautiful retina display, and the bubbly screen cover of Life Proof case is nice, although it does NOT work perfectly, it does take some getting used to, can take away from some workability of the 4/4s display.

As far as the waterproof feature goes, don't test it. It's more of a just is case feature, as mine failed thus ruining my 32GB 4S. Yes, it is a nice feature to have, but come on, if you are spending $300.00+ on a phone why are you taking that risk?

It is nice and slim, although the accessories (belt clip, bike mount) are available at an absurd price (upwards of 20-30 dollars for plastic pieces) They are nice but again, there are other options.

Overall, great idea. Modest at best execution, much room for improvement on the screen protector/digitizer side of things with THOUSANDS of complaints of rainbow effects/bubbles pouring in from all over, perhaps a more stiff piece of flexible, and conductive plastic will take care of this problem. I mean, for $80.00 USD, or roughly a full day of labor at minimum wage plus a little extra ($7.25X8 hours= $58.00) shouldn't thing thing do a better job? Is it really worth 1/365 of your yearly income? I think not.

I had a otter box on my 4s and the inside plastic broke in several spots I now have a survivor on my 4s and iPad 3 and like it much better seem to be much more durable although it does add some weight and bulk

I do believe when they say test it, they mean without the phone in it.

I have the Survivor case on my Iphone 5c. The only problem is that it is a lint magnet. Any advice on how to fix that?
