Group FaceTime?

One of the things I actually like about google hangouts is being able to videochat with multiple users.

Is this in the new operating system? If not, any reason why Apple has not done this yet, seems pretty basic

Not sure on a reason. It is not in Yosemite, but it could be added in theory before the fall.

I do like Skype and Oovoo for the purpose.

iChat used to have this years ago. It seems to me that with every new release of OSX, just as many, if not more, useful features are removed as new ones are added.

There's group audio chat now, apparently.
