I am in a family group message where sometimes I enable “hide alerts” during a conversation because I’m busy at work and don’t want the constant dings. Then I disable it when things calm down, so I can get notifications again. I’ve been doing this for years.

Now I have a weird issue which came up today... It keeps turning back on by itself! I notice I didn’t get any notifications for a couple messages, so I go into the conversation info, and “hide alerts” is enabled. I disable it. A couple more messages come through, complete with notifications, and then they magically start getting silenced again after a minute or two. I go look, and sure enough, “hide alerts” has enabled itself! I turn it back off, rinse and repeat.

I’ve tried closing the app, doing a hard reboot of the phone, even looked at my iPad to see if that is interfering... nothing helps.

I don’t want to delete the conversation because I like having the history and the ton of photos shared.

So.... What is going on here???

I had this same exact issue and the only fix for me was to do a Reset All Settings.

A pain since I had to redo all my settings and stuff.

Ahh well that’s annoying... but I guess you don’t actually lose anything, right? What actually gets reset when you do this?

Did you try resetting any of the individual settings first? Like reset network settings, privacy settings, etc.

After seeing that it will reset my entire Home Screen I’m very hesitant on resetting all!
